When The Body Says No
Stress is so commonplace we tend to think it’s normal and that we’re supposed to feel it. So we fail to recognize the warning signs. And we blame ourselves when we feel like we can’t keep up or when we think we’re disappointing others.

We tell ourselves we need to get tougher, work harder, do more, be more, give more. And while all of that is happening, our poor bodies are suffering.

My Story
Let me tell you a little bit about my story and how this assessment changed my life. 

Throughout my life, there were many times when I felt incredibly overwhelmed, and I longed for the day when my plate was a little less full. But as soon as one stress period started settling down, another one blossomed. 

My response to this overwhelm was always that little chat where I told myself I needed to get stronger, more organized, manage my resources better… stay up later… get up earlier… deal with it, this is life. 

And I always saw my stress and overwhelm as a personal failure. I was the problem and I just needed to learn how to step it up.

But no matter how hard I tried, my stress load just kept growing.

An Eye Opener
One day I was required to take this assessment as part of an assignment. I still remember my shock when I saw my score. 

My score was literally off the chart! My life was out of control and there was a very good reason I felt stressed and overwhelmed.

This was a huge eye opener for me, to say the least. No wonder I felt stressed! And no wonder I was experiencing some serious health issues. My life was out of control and I didn’t know how to take that control back.

I was beginning to experience many health problems and I was scared. But I still had no idea how to change the trajectory my life was taking.  
And the stress kept coming at me,

Partly because I made many things worse
by not knowing
how to make them better.

But I judged myself a little less critically after taking the assessment and those talks I gave myself became a little softer. I realized it wasn't that I was weak or not enough. In fact, I realized that I was actually incredibly strong to still be standing!

The Turning Point
One day, after experiencing yet another extremely stressful event, I was driving in my car and I saw my reflection in the rear view mirror

Tears were streaming down my face, my eyes were swollen, my heart was aching. I hadn’t slept well, I was exhausted and I felt so defeated.

But that day, as I looked in the mirror I saw me. Maybe for the first time ever.


We hear a lot these days about being seen. Or feeling that we aren’t being seen or heard. Take a look in your mirror. What and who do you see? Are you as guilty as everyone else about not seeing or hearing you? 

As I looked at myself in that rear view mirror that day and truly saw what I had become, I asked myself, “Is the woman you want to be? Is this the woman you really are?” And I could just picture the rest of my life in a constant battle with stress. 

That moment was a turning point for me.

And I knew that from that moment on I would ever be the same, or never be the same, but the choice was mine. And I chose me.

A New Perspective
Healing wasn’t a straight line for me. I didn’t have someone paving the way and teaching me how to take control. But with time and effort I learned to see my stress in a new way. And then I began to heal.

If I hadn’t taken this assessment and discovered that I wasn’t weak or a failure, I truly had out of control stress, I don’t know where I would be today. But I can tell you, I wouldn’t be experiencing the abundance of health I wake up with every morning

Many of my health issues have been resolved and those that aren’t completely gone are under control so they don’t limit my activities or my choices.
